Finding Balance

Everything in life is about finding balance and keeping it. Think of work/life balance, the balance between performance/recovery, but also staying emotional centered and balanced and keeping homeostasis (a term used for balance within our biological internal environment), etc.  In order to find balance we need 2 things:

  1. We need to be able to readjust and respond to subtle changes of the always changing circumstances in our environment and internally.
  2. We need to be present in order to notice these subtle changes so we can adjust and respond accordingly before we get knocked out of balance.

The act of constantly readjusting, changing and learning the movements is a play. Like, it’s a game. And it needs to be enjoyed. I believe that the combination of (thai-) boxing and yoga can be a great contribution to finding and staying in balance.

Combining Martial Arts And Yoga

Both disciplines require what it takes stay in balance: a high degree of awareness in the present moment and a constant play of having to interact with changing circumstances. With yoga this mostly goes for internal circumstances and with boxing this mostly goes for external circumstances. 

It’s yin and yang: on one side is the flow of the caring, calming, more sensitive and intuitive feminine side of yoga. On the other side is the outward, disciplined, assertive, goal-oriented masculine side of Thai boxing. Where they meet, interconnected, with presence, focus and play — or dance if you’d like. 

Who Is It For?

It doesn’t matter what your level of experience is, how much you weight, your ethnicity, whether you’re a guy or a girl, young or old, everyone is welcome! My classes are all based around the values of respect, fun and hard work. There’s 2 options: private or group lessons. If you want to work on technique and more personal attention I’d recommend the private training, but don’t underestimate the power of community. Reach out to me so you can drop your questions. I’m excited to see you on the mat and/or with gloves on! 

Personal Thai-/Kick- Boxing

This is all about you. Whatever your goal is and whatever you level of experience is, I’ll help you reach your goal! Technique has always been an important aspact to me and I’ll work on improving your technique as I don’t want to risk injury or teach you something that doesn’t work. Usually the sessions go as the following: warm-up > technique > speed/power > intensive last rounds > cooling down. But all options are open. I’m excited to work together. See you in my outside dojo!

Group Training Boxing

Weekly group training sessions in Rotterdam with free parking. It’s a fun group of beginner to intermediate boxers. Respect and fun are #1 rule! It’s an open and fun group, so you don’t have to be afraid to come out and try a drop-in class. Reach out (or through IG) so I can add you to the groups app and/or ask for more details. The training is in English as we have an international group. I’m stoked to see you there!

Currently I’m implementing yoga into private trainings and boxing sessions during warm-ups or cooling-downs. I’m currently teaching yoga sessions on request for groups as well as private sessions. Please reach out for more information or requests.

A smiling fella from the Netherlands who loves a good chat, the road, to be active and to write from time to time. I’ve always been captured and fascinated by the mechanism and the possibilities of the human body and mind. With a background in board sport-, martial arts- and yoga teaching, a degree in sports and movement and as a orthomolecular health advisor I’m moved to create more awareness around wellbeing, lifestyles and human potential. 

I look at health and wellbeing as a journey, rather than a destination. This journey inspires me to share and guide people to embody their vitality and thrive from the inside-out. As my dedication to sharing, guiding and supporting grows I’m feeling more and more fulfilment and joy in my own life. It’s my mission to help people approach their health from a place of self-love and become the embodiment of their wellbeing and life force
